About / trajectory

Overlapping
practices.

Mathematics, teaching and engineering did not replace one another. They developed together—and now provide the foundation for a careful applied research agenda.

01 The trajectory

Not a pivot.
An accumulation.

Mathematical rigor, the communication of complex ideas and the operation of systems at scale are different forms of the same work: understanding structure well enough to act responsibly.

01 / Foundation

Mathematics

Abstraction, proof, problem solving and the discipline of making assumptions explicit.

02 / Practice

Teaching

Understanding how people interpret difficult ideas, where explanations fail and how reasoning becomes transferable.

03 / Scale

Engineering

Designing and leading systems that must remain useful and reliable under technical and organizational pressure.

04 / Emerging

AI research

Investigating what trustworthy delegation requires when software begins to communicate, decide and act with greater autonomy.

Established practice

Systems, scope
and responsibility.

Current work as a Head of Engineering combines strong technical involvement with responsibility for teams, direction and production systems.

The engineering focus is not a catalogue of technologies. It is the set of decisions around architecture, distributed systems, scalability, reliability, platform evolution and organizational design that determine whether complex systems can keep working.

AI adoption and evaluation in engineering belongs here as a practical systems question: where it adds leverage, how it changes workflows and what evidence is required before relying on it.

Reasoning that can
be communicated.

Mathematics is a professional foundation and teaching is an established part of the career—not a side interest.

Experience in higher education and teacher education includes teaching Calculus, Algebra, Geometry and Mathematics, alongside academic and organizational responsibilities in education.

Subjects taught

  • Calculus
  • Algebra
  • Geometry
  • Mathematics

The common thread is not only solving problems, but understanding how definitions, representations and explanations shape what people are able to reason about.
